A Simple Strategy You Can Implement Today to Increase Your Facebook Following

Did you know that for as little as $1.00 a day you can create an ad budget to grow your reach on Facebook? Through targeted advertising you can grow your followers to specifically increase your engagement rates for future advertising campaigns.

Why use Facebook Advertising?

With over 1.5 billion users per month Facebook is the king of social networking and a platform that you cannot afford to ignore. Facebook may also have the cheapest and easiest entry to targeted marketing that the world has ever seen.

The Painful Truth

Facebook organic reach is pretty much dead. As Facebook evolves it is evermore a pay to play game. Business pages see little if any organic reach. It is critical that you build a targeted following on one of the world's largest platforms to reach your customers. Targeted reach will increase your visibility in the community that you build but it will take hard work (and money) to build that community.

New targeted users can increase engagement rate

Create ad sets that target users that have similar interests to your brand. The goal is to create ads to a narrower audience that is likely to connect with your business. By acquiring this type of follower your engagement rate will be higher. Positive interactions and feedback play well in the Facebook algorithm increasing the likelihood that your posts will be seen.

Set realistic goals

This is a marathon not a sprint. Set timely goals for a certain amount of page likes. Page likes do come slower than in the past as the Facebook audience has matured. Be deliberate in your goals and stay the course until they are achieved.

Facebook Do's and Dont's

There are some simple rules to follow on Facebook when it comes to acquiring new followers (page likes).

  1. Don't buy or pay for "farmed" likes to your business page.
The entire point behind building your following on any social network is to build a community. A community of engaged and interested users that enjoy and desire your product or brand. A large number of "fake" users does not represent your business in a positive light.

  2. Do - Stay consistent on increasing your reach
Set a small continuous budget that will build your followers and engagement over time. It is very common to create an ad set that targets new users for as little as $1 a day. The better the content you post on a regular schedule the easier it will be to acquire new followers.

  3. Do - Target your ads specifically
Whether you target your ads to increase your followers or to promote an event, product or service - be specific. Set a specific set of parameters in your ad manager and be patient and increase your following over time with quality content. It would be better to have 100 active engaged users than 2,000 inactive or disengaged users. Patience and consistency are key.

  4. Do - Set realistic expectations
Don't expect your posts to go viral. Remember you are implementing a long term strategy and each post should be relevant to the strategy of the post. If you are acquiring followers

  5. Do - Create a Call To Action
Always have a call to action on your ad. A simple "like our page" or a button that re-directs to a website or landing page is critical. It is not recommended to publish your ad set until a call to action is in place. Facebook will ask you upon the ad set creation to create a call to action.

To begin advertising on Facebook you should first set up a business account manager and then an advertising account through Facebook. This will streamline the process and allow you full control over Facebook offerings. The link is above.
